I've spent the past week following all of the tips that are out there:
- Got to bed at your 'normal time' (even a few days prior to departure)
- Avoid any heavy food or alcohol.
- Sleep on the plane as much as possible.
- Drink lots of water - (I mean how much water is a person supposed to drink?!
|How to cope with jet lag according to BA.|
My conclusion, after a lot of long haul flights......drumroll please.....Nothing works. Our bodies are simply not programmed to switch time zones so easily no matter what we try. It takes up to a week in my estimation to feel normal again.
|What I would look like as a jet lagged man.|
And that's ok - but I could just be saying that because i'm almost at the end point. Jet lag is horrible; waking up at strange hours, wanting breakfast at dinner time, working. Ugh.
However as it is the New Year I thought I would be positive and write a list of some of the things that I am thankful for in my life so far (just so you don't think I am a miserable sod altogether):
I am so grateful for many things in my life. My family, my friends, having a great job, my soundproof windows, having weekends free, my green bike, cheese and the invention of the hair straightener.
What about you, what are your hopes and dreams for the year ahead?
